Jim Jones' 'Mining Diamonds' has launched and it's amazing

New York rapper Jim Jones has much more than a story to tell these days and with his new ‘Mining Diamonds’ podcast officially launched, you can hear all about it. Following buzz about the new program launching at the start of Black History Month, Capo and company go all-out dishing on a variety of topics including financial mistakes, life-changing journeys and more with guest Chef JJ Johnson.

Check out a rundown of the topics discussed and kick back for over an hour of amazing conversations.

The first episode was released today in celebration of Black History Month and features guest Chef JJ Johnson, the James Beard award winning chef, author, and owner of FIELD TRIP, a chain of fast-casual rice bowl restaurants.

Jones and his co-hosts dig deep discussing how Johnson got his start as an ambitious culinary student to launching a burgeoning food empire and what it took to start fund and scale. Wanted to share a few quotes from the episode in case you wanted to share:

  • Jones talking about learning from his financial mistakes: It's easy to get the money, it's harder to keep the money. […] I think I spent it all in one month when I got my first million.

  • Johnson on why he created an affordable, fast casual restaurant: When I started looking at the landscape of the black and brown communities, I started to see everything is either “finger lickin’ good," fried, McDonald’s, you know, big brands. But nobody that looks like us has food that they can actually feel good about after they eat it.

  • Johnson on a game-changing trip to Ghana: When I left [Ghana] it was like the ancestors gave me these marching orders to cook food of the diaspora - to look through the West African lens. I wasn't looking at food through a very eurocentric lens anymore which I was taught in school.

The podcast will provide information related to entrepreneurship and business as well as offer a sense of community for both aspiring and established entrepreneurs. Mining Diamonds, the newest series to launch off of the UnitedMasters podcast network, was created to highlight success-building strategies and insights from the next generation of entrepreneurs with easy to digest content meant to feel like personal conversations.

New audio and video episodes will be released bi-weekly and can be streamed via all major platforms including YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Amazon Music.
