Mac Critter: It's vintage 80's video filming in the 'Mixed Emotions' music video

Is there any slowing down what’s brewing from The New 1017 these days? Turns out rap artist Mac Critter is showing no signs of slowing down and keeps delivering courtesy of the new ‘Mixed Emotions’ single.

The new song itself goes hard but putting out a visual, too? Super tough. Tap in.

The somber song provides fans with a different perspective of Critter as he raps about how the hustle keeps him focused over a melodic beat. The video, directed by Liquid Chrome, has a nostalgic aesthetic reminiscent of an 1980s home video. Critter also gives fan a personal side of his life in the visual as he spends time at home in his backyard with his dog while flashing wades of money.

This visual comes off the heels of Critter’s prior single, “All It” and his two-disc project HIM 2 which serves as the follow to his debut mixtape, HIM and the official visual for Blur My Vision featuring BigWalkDog. The project features 16 tracks on disc one and eight previously released tracks on disc two. HIM 2 also includes appearances from Gucci ManeYTB FattSettYoung Scooter, BigWalkDog and Lil Double 0.

Mac Critter signed to The New 1017 label at the end of 2022, and it was only a few months later when the Memphis native’s talents were recognized by his peers and industry tastemakers. Dropping music consistently from the start, his music was shared on Instagram by now fellow labelmate, Sett, and was instantly put on Gucci Mane’s radar. “Wop saw it and was like, ‘Damn’,” smiles Mac Critter. “I had never met him before then, but he was a big influence on my life. We were always listening to Wop. When he reached out to me, he felt where I was coming from. God blessed me with this opportunity now. I’ve been putting in work. I’m in a bigger position; I want to put my family in a position to be straight forever.”

Thus far, Critter has garnered 47M+ US Streams and 21M+ YouTube views. Mac Critter is solidifying his place on the Memphis rap scene as hits like Burst"continue to grow. “Burst” has now accumulated 760k+ US streams to date and 343k+ YouTube views. Be on the lookout for new music as he solidifies himself in the Memphis rap scene!

ABOUT MAC CRITTER

Mac Critter may often conceal his face with a signature ski mask, but it only draws more attention to his voice and his story. The Memphis rapper flaunts a fiery flow punctuated by a croaky cadence, woozy inflection, and quotable rhymes. He channels trials and tribulations into a tight and tough style of his own. Generating millions of streams and views and attracting Gucci Mane and The New 1017 to his corner, he puts his stamp on the game with a series of singles and his debut project, HIM, in 2023. He angled himself towards a breakthrough by releasing music at a prolific clip of “damn-near a project per month” and generating over 3 million views and counting.

Across tapes such as ReturnProject X with Tony Show, Red-DemptionHIMDa Menace, and many others, he gained traction with tracks like “Kids Sing,” “Torture,” “SPIN THE BLOCK,” and “MR SPIN THE BLOC” as well as “LASER QUEST” and “MURDA” both featuring Lil Double-O. Rising through the ranks, he even caught Future’s attention and gained his support. Serendipitously, fellow recent 1017 signee Sett bumped Mac Critter’s tunes on his story, and Gucci Mane instantly reached out. Now, he pops off on bangers a la Gucci Mane’s “Shit Crazy (Remix)” [feat. BIG30, Sett, & Mac Critter]. No matter the setting, he instantly shines with infectious and irresistible intensity. In the end, you’re going to remember Mac Critter the moment you hear him because he encodes an enduring message in this gritty vision.
