GRAMMY® Award-winning, Oscar nominated, Lagos, Nigeria-based singer, songwriter, and producer Tems released a dreamy new music video for “Get It Right” featuring Asake from her debut studio album Born In The Wild. Just under a year after the release of his critically acclaimed Unruly album, which has amassed over 300 million global streams, and amidst rumours of his “retirement” swirling the zeitgeist, renowned African music icon and Nigerian rap legend OLAMIDE is back with a surprise new EP titled IKIGAI / 生き甲斐, VOL.1. The EP title, derived from the Japanese concept of ‘ikigai’, which means "a reason for living", serves as a thematic foundation for the project, where Olamide explores the intersections of passion, profession, and purpose. Throughout the EP, Olamide reaffirms his position as a trailblazer in global music, delivering on innovation and deep resonance yet again.

The Ikigai / 生き甲斐, Vol. 1 EP showcases Olamide’s genre-defying artistic versatility, and puts his legendary status in global music in no doubt. Sonically, the EP is a glorious fusion of hip-hop, afrobeats, dancehall, amapiano, and pop music, which offers a rich tapestry of diverse eclectic sounds, as Olamide continues to push the boundaries of his sound. Each track on Ikigai / 生き甲斐, Vol. 1 offers a distinct musical experience, with the opener ‘Metaverse’ introducing listeners to the EP's eclectic sonic landscape, followed by the high-energy ‘Uptown Disco’ featuring Olamide’s proteges Fireboy DML and Asake, while ‘Knockout’ with Moroccan Algerian songstress Sabri adds a soulful and sensual undertone to the project. ‘Hello Habibi’ sees Olamide exploring Arabic musical influences, demonstrating his global outlook, while the spiritual ‘Morowore’ reveals more of Olamide's introspective side. The EP culminates with the nostalgic ‘Synchro System’, which reunites Olamide with YBNL alumni Pheelz, Young Jonn, and Lil Kesh.

Today, Nigerian recording artist Asake releases the visual to “Sunshine” from his new album Work of Art. The standout track has been streamed nearly 11 million times worldwide in just one week since the album’s release and includes a sample from “Ocean Drive” by Lighthouse Family. The video was shot in San Francisco in front of the iconic Golden Gate Bridge. Directed by Sebastian Santiago, the uplifting visual was shot in one camera take, inspired by Coldplay’s “Yellow” video.

Asake recently released his second album, Work Of Art, out now via YBNL Nation/EMPIRE. The 14-track album includes standout singles “2:30,” “Yoga” and the latest single “Amapiano” which has the album’s lone feature, Olamide. The release of the album comes on the heels of the breakout superstar reaching a career milestone of over1.75 billion streams and counting.

Nigerian recording artist Asake releases a brand-new song and music video, “2:30”, produced by Magicsticks (Oxlade, Joeboy) and BlaiseBeatz (Kizz Daniel, CKay). Shot in Los Angeles, the video was directed by Edgar Esteves (Lil Baby, Russ) with styling by Raya Khaled. The song and video are a celebration of authenticity and individuality, about embracing one’s true self and recognizing the value that comes from one’s roots. “2:30” will feature on Asake’s forthcoming full-length project, out later this year.

“2:30” comes on the heels of Asake making his late-night TV debut on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last month, watch his vibrant performance HERE. Most recently, Asake joined Davido on the track “NO COMPETITION”, featured on his new album Timeless, released last week. Also this year, Asake joined Olamide and Fireboy DML at EMPIRE’s San Francisco studio as part of their Africa Writing Camp, spending days “creating the next generation of records that will continue spreading the movement across the globe”, according to Billboard who documented the experience. “2:30” was completed at the camp.
