Feel like turning up a few more times with summertime wrapping up? Look no further than how N3WYRKLA and Skilla Baby are letting loose on their ‘mind now’ anthem. More than a single, the music video goes tough, too.
It’s pure energy and flirty vibes on full display. Lose yourself in the cinematic presentation.
Exuding an effortless cool and unshakeable confidence, rising Alt-R&B songstress N3WYRKLA is one of the most exciting young artists on the East Coast. Keeping up the momentum from her recent Timbaland-collab “CH3RRY,” the New Jersey-born artist shares “mind now” ft. Skilla Baby, her new single, also produced by Timbaland himself. The tracks finds N3WYRKLA navigating a situationship, as she delivers a clear message telling the individual in that they need to make a choice, even though she knows the answer...is her: “It’s ‘bout to get real messy / Wanna break ties wit him, I did / Tell your b*tch that you leavin’ / Gotta make your mind now, It’s me / She don’t even know that you playin’, that you play with her heart.” Skilla Baby claps back at N3WYRKLA’s demands over brash drums and a propulsive bassline, putting her firmly to the side: “I ain’t bout to leave my b*tch, ‘cuz I love my b*tch / I don’t need love from you, I don’t trust that sh*t / We can have fun when we in the club, that’s it / I ain’t tryna be your man, baby we just vibin’ / I’m be your side n***a, baby be my side b*tch.” The “mind now” video finds N3WYRKLA executing intricate choreography with a crew of backup dancers, before she links up with the rising Detroit star to play out their complicated relationship.
“mind now” follows up “CH3RRY,” a Timbaland-produced Alt-R&B track released earlier this summer, which earned coverage from BET, HotNewHipHop, and more. These two singles have continued a steady rise for N3WYRKLA, who has been on the radar of tastemakers since 2023. That year, N3WYRKLA released her debut EP, SELFishly enTITLED along with a stream of singles that helped her grow an audience and garner attention, one such example being her angsty single, “GMFU” which garnered over 1 million streams across all platforms. After her music grabbed the attention of Brent Faiyaz, N3WYRKLA was invited to hop onto Faiyaz’s critically acclaimed album Larger Than Life, joining Faiyaz and A$AP Rocky on the track “Outside All Night.” N3WYRKLA's vulnerable delivery of lines like “If I let you in, can you promise you won’t be outside doing me wrong” adds emotional depth to an already yearnful track, which currently has 67M streams across platforms. This feature earned N3WYRKLA’s first Billboard chart entry, debuting at #10 on Billboard’s Hot R&B Songs chart and #26 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/ Hip-Hop Songs.
Released earlier in 2024, her latest EP, it’s not you, it’s me is dedicated to “taking accountability about the role you play in a relationship,” says the 24-year-old artist. The EP has amassed over 2 million streams across all platforms after reaching #23 on the Apple Music's R&B/Soul Top Albums Charts. The EP features a second collaboration with Brent Faiyaz on the lo-fi synthy RnB single “not enough,” which garnered 1 million streams across all platforms.
N3WYRKLA is making a name for herself in the R&B world and is one to watch. Her ability to connect with listeners through her straightforward lyricism and emotiveness proves to be the superpower that will propel her to new heights. Stay tuned for more

In the same way that the rappers’ voices intertwine and compliment each other, “B’Cuz” is full of references to John Wick and impulse-purchased chinchilla coats that are counterbalanced by references to the real-life violence that still seems to lurk around every corner. “Don’t mean I ain’t paranoid just ‘cause I’m not in the hood,” Herbo raps during the hook, before Skilla takes it upon himself to clarify that that doesn’t mean they’ve changed: “I’ve been trying to chill, but I still will get on some hood shit.”
