Tyla: The steamy season is only beginning with the 'Push 2 Start' music video
Winter might low-key creep up but I’m living in the moment just like my gyal Tyla in 2024. How about a super fire ‘Push 2 Start’ anthem worthy of your full attention? Maybe a fire music video, too? Say less.

It’s pure summer vibes in November and I’m not complaining - at all. Lose your mind to the visual glowing.
Tyla’s prolific 2024 continues today as the global superstar releases her sixth music video of the year, “Push 2 Start,” to commemorate the recent release of the deluxe edition of her record-setting debut album, TYLA. Watch the Aerin Moreno-directed new video now.
Tyla, no stranger to a cleverly crafted metaphor—see: “Water”—hosts a vivacious dance party outside a car wash in her new feature, as she slinks through to the sounds of one of TYLA+’S standout tracks and gets her own body “detailed” like a car would. As things wrap up, Tyla and her dance troupe turn a car carrier into the perfect setting for one of Tyla’s customary dance breaks—it isn’t a Tyla video without one.
“Push 2 Start” helps to punctuate what’s been a historic breakout year for Tyla. She performed the new record for millions of viewers at the Victoria Secret Fashion Show and still has landmarks to hit before 2025 rolls in. Following a February GRAMMY victory and a record-setting run on the Billboard charts in the spring, when she became the highest-charting African female soloist on the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard 200 with “Water” and Tyla respectively, Tyla has enjoyed a triumphant victory lap.
She performed at this year’s Paris Olympics Prelude to the 2024 Olympic Games and continued to dominate the awards circuit, including victories at the MTV VMAs and BET Awards and South African Music Awards. At this weekend’s MTV Europe Music Awards, the global star will be performing and is also nominated for four awards, including ‘Best African Act’ and ‘Best R&B Star.’ In December, the South African star will return home for a ‘homecoming’ pair of live concerts, her first performances in the region since “Water” exploded in Summer ‘23. In addition to her highlight Victoria Secret Fashion Show performance, Tyla has remained a force in the fashion world, earning headlines from outlets like WWD and Vogue for her scene-stealing moments at this year’s Met Gala and CFDA Awards.
Tyla’s music videos have continued to uphold the singer’s creative standard, employing storytelling and choreography techniques that have woven an exhilarating visual narrative to accompany the star’s award-winning music. Fans have supported the work to the tune of well over 100 million views just in 2024, and “Push 2 Start” serves as the latest addition to the story.

Grammy nominated & rising global Amapiano Pop/R&B sensation Tyla releases her newest music video, “Truth Or Dare.” Tyla stars in the video, which is directed by famed director NABIL, known for his work with Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West and Frank Ocean. The standout single from Tyla has already accumulated over 136 million views on Tik Tok.
Though Tyla proudly infuses a pop ambiance into her music, the aspect of storytelling is prevalent in her visual work. Much like the video for “Water,” Tyla’s 2023 mega-hit, NABIL’s “Truth Or Dare” feature, despite its high-spirited nature, carries a distinct plot to accompany the song’s effervescence. Tyla, clearly perturbed by a romantic prospect’s lackadaisical pursuit, flips the script, and decides to put her potential love interest’s will to the test. Seconds later, as Tyla croons effortlessly, she finds herself the subject of a high-speed chase that results in a fateful meeting with her pursuer—only to slickly relieve him of his car keys and speed off with the upper hand. Again.
Following the announcement of her upcoming self-titled Tyla in December, the South Africa native made history on the Billboard charts, becoming the highest-charting female soloist in African history when “Water” ascended to its #7 peak on the Billboard Hot 100. The song would go on to be certified platinum by the RIAA, Tyla’s first plaque and an indication that unequivocal stardom is on her horizon.
This Sunday, Tyla is up for her first GRAMMY Award thanks to “Water,” in the “Best Afrobeat Song” category. “As soon as I heard ‘Water,’ I said, ‘It’s over. We have the song’,” she told Rolling Stone last year, as the track dominated radio and social airwaves alike.
This year, Tyla will release her proper debut album, which is set to be one of 2024’s most highly-coveted releases. If “Water” and “Truth Or Dare” are any indication, she’s beyond ready.
Tyla’s music pushes boundaries. Infused with her vibrant personality, her songs offer an innovative take on pop and R&B, shimmering with the euphoria of South African amapiano, and an otherworldly approach to production that makes every track feel like something totally new.
Tyla’s emotionally rich music began when she was just 12, penning songs in her diary, which led to writing and singing more seriously as a high schooler. Ever since, she’s been guided by her intuition, which has her primed to build out her fan base and maximize her reach. She’s focused on the year ahead, performing and crafting her debut studio album, with the same intention from when she began. Signed to Epic Records through a joint venture with Johannesburg/New York-based Fax Records, and co-managed by We Make Music and Africa Creative Agency, Tyla is poised to achieve international dominance with style, soul, and spirit.
