Brittney Spencer’s ‘Independence Day’ flex

With a CMT Music Award nomination to her name, Spencer and Amazon Music hit the green light on dropping the visual to the masses. The banger is a cover of the Gretchen Peters version and is also featured in the Amazon Music film For Love & Country.

Brittney is currently nominated for a CMT Music Award for “CMT Digital First Performance of the Year” on behalf of her song “Sober & Skinny” (from CMT Campfire Sessions). She is known for her free spirit and standout ability to mold life, truth and wild imagination into songs. Her recent song “Sober & Skinny” has garnered praise from The New York TimesRolling Stone, and more, as well as an in-depth interview with CBS Mornings’ Anthony Mason and she is currently featured on the April/May 2022 cover of Garden & Gun. Spencer is managed by Activist Artists Management and represented by United Talent Agency and Shore Fire Media.

For Love & Country

The new For Love & Country documentary is way deeper than looking at tunes. It’s a deep dive into how Black culture ultimately shaped what country music is especially in 2022.

For Love & Country, is a new Amazon Music Original feature-length documentary that proclaims country music has always been Black music. The genre not only owes part of its origin story to Black musicians, but through its history, prominent Black voices have pushed the genre forward with little recognition or fanfare. Directed by director and photographer Joshua Kissi, For Love & Country examines country music through the personal stories of a new generation of Black artists claiming space in Nashville—and helping to transform the genre in the process.
