Ocean x Kungfu: The 'WGFU' is an anthem anyone not focusing on cuffing season can love

Even though I know this song means I have zip-zero chance of boo’ing up with hip-hop duo Ocean x Kungfu, I can’t deny how fire the ‘WGFU’ anthem is. The Atlanta rap artists have a certified single worthy of ample replays.

Ocean x Kungfu’s ‘WGFU’ is going extra hard

The song is an audio gem and goes the opposite direction of cuffing season. With a new mixtape arriving later this month, it’s the perfect mood setter.

Atlanta’s breakout rap duo Ocean x KungFu drop "WGFU," a girls-night-out anthem made to be turned all the way up. Listen HERE via Interscope Records. Combining the sisters' bold, back-and-forth lyrical stylings with fierce, bombastic production, it's a safe bet that "WGFU" — short for "We Getting Fuc**d Up" — will be a dancefloor mainstay for months to come.

"Tonight, I don’t care about no n***a, I got my blunt, my bitches and my liquor," they rap over an infectious vocal loop and booming bass. "We outside, so someone come and get us — shakin’ ass in the street, know I’m cute, take my picture." The siblings' irreverent appeal and ability to craft hook-heavy bangers has never been more apparent.

"WGFU," the title track for their debut mixtape, comes on the heels of their Hitmaka-produced single "Motion" featuring KB Mike. It was preceded by their summer anthem "Lay It Down,"which sampled 8Ball & MJG’s legendary '90s track of the same name. That single was celebrated by the likes of Rolling Stone, HipHopDx, and more. Prior to that, they made waves with tracks like "M.A.B." and "Gangsta," cuts that pulsate with the commanding spirit of the two sisters.

Although up-and-coming, Ocean x KungFu's sound has a seasoned confidence. It's because the sisters have been performing locally together since grade school. By late 2019, they picked up momentum with their breakthrough single, "Savage," and they haven't looked back since. Last year, their talent landed them a stint on Future's One Big Party Tour, where droves of new fans discovered their talent.

With "WGFU," the duo levels up big time, dropping a club-ready single that underlines their status as one of hip-hop's hottest new acts.
