And here’s the ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ synopsis
In case you’re playing catch-up and need to know where things are heading with the new movie, here’s a breakdown of what to expect storyline-wise.
After more than thirty years of service as one of the Navy’s top aviators, Pete “Maverick” Mitchell (Tom Cruise) is where he belongs, pushing the envelope as a courageous test pilot and dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him. When he finds himself training a detachment of TOPGUN graduates for a specialized mission the likes of which no living pilot has ever seen, Maverick encounters Lt. Bradley Bradshaw (Miles Teller), call sign: “Rooster,” the son of Maverick’s late friend and Radar Intercept Officer Lt. Nick Bradshaw, aka “Goose.”
Nic Cage's 'The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent' is hilariously memorable
Oh my goodness, are you in for a wild weekend. Granted, there is going to be some stiff competition for flicks with everything from Bad Guys to The Northman being in theaters - but if you’re looking for the solid standout flick aimed at making all true moviegoers cry with laughter, look no further than The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.

Oh, did I mention Nick Cage? Of course the featured image and the promotion Lionsgate has performed for the flick alone should make the legendary actor - for all the reasons you would imagine - stand right out in your mind. Less than 24 hours after going to see this at my local AMC Dine-In, I still can’t get endless scenes out of my head and - thank-you Lionsgate - this amazing fandom of awesomeness has me cracking a massive smile as I type out these very words.
From the coloring book to the signature movie hat and shades, there is just too much in here for me to detail - but my goodness, this movie is easily one of the funniest and craziest ones you’ll see this year - and that’s saying a lot when you have flicks like Nope dropping in a few weeks and of course the number of Marvel Studios films lined up to invade theaters.
It’s raw comedy. It’s satire on fleek maximum. It’s some serious star power and funniness you can’t help but get lost in - and of course all of those timeless Nick Cage references throughout the movie? Spoiler: You’re going to want to either watch Paddington 2 after seeing this movie or at least watch the trailer.
The movie hits hard and under two hours in length - which is a rarity these days - hi, The Batman - you’re going to appreciate every scene and twist, turn which goes down.
The cast is packed but let’s face it - it’s Nick Cage, baby. A slight review making its way in the News section but, aye, it’s Nick Cage, baby.

JAY-Z's finally on Instagram + it's still all business
Music icon JAY-Z doesn’t use Twitter fingers often and his presence on Instagram has remained obsolete up until today. The hip-hop superstar comes through clutch for the IG heads by not only showing up but plugging his Roc Nation-backed The Harder They Fall production.

JAY-Z’s finally on Instagram
Young Hov hit up his IG page with the poster of The Harder They Fall in celebration of its official Netflix premiere. Rather than get caught up in funny captions or emojis, Young Hov simply captioned the post with the film’s title.
JAY-Z leads ‘The Harder They Fall’ soundtrack
Young Hov’s Roc Nation and Netflix partnered up for the film’s audio release. In addition to the Jigga Man, the album features music heavyweights including Kid Cudi, Jadakiss, Conway The Machine, Koffee, Seal, CeeLe Green, Lauryn Hill and film director Jeymes Samuel.
Each song on the soundtrack was produced by Samuel, who also co-wrote the screenplay for “The Harder They Fall” and directed the film starring Jonathan Majors, Zazie Beetz, Delroy Lindo, LaKeith Stanfield, Danielle Deadwyler, Edi Gathegi, R.J. Cyler, Damon Wayans Jr., Deon Cole with Regina King and Idris Elba. In addition to making his directorial debut, Samuel also showcases his versatility as an artist with his own song “No Turning Around” also appearing on the project.
Director Jeymes Samuel is big proud of the soundtrack
The film’s director has since dished on being a part of the jam-packed soundtrack and dished on what it means to have a deep mixture of talent all on one project.
“I’m honored to have collaborated with such a diverse and talented array of artists to bring this film’s soundtrack to life," said Samuel. "My vision was to create a versatile body of work that blends genres and eras in an innovative way. I hope that, through our collaborative work, fans will be able to really immerse themselves in the stories we’re trying to tell.”
JAY’s on more than just one fire song
While in most cases you would figure JAY is only going to be featured on one track, Shawn Carter actually has a couple of standout collaborations.
The soundtrack includes the long-awaited collaboration between JAY-Z and Kid Cudi on “Guns Go Bang,” which was first teased in the film’s main trailer in September and marks the duo’s first official collaboration since 2009. JAY-Z makes another appearance on the soundtrack alongside Jadakiss and Conway The Machine on “King Kong Riddim” for an explosive collaboration.
Additionally, the soundtrack includes a rare appearance from Hill, whose collaborative effort with Fatoumata Diawara on “Black Woman”offers a strong message of empowerment. Hill’s appearance on “The Harder They Fall” soundtrack is significant, considering it marks the Grammy-award winning icon’s fifth release as lead artist in the past 10 years.
The project also features some notable songs by veteran musician Barrington Levy and a skit with “Atlanta” star LaKeith Stanfield and Regina King.
