Big Sean delivers with Turbo and Gunna on ‘It Is What It Is’

Sometimes you just have to single out a single and this tune goes hard from start to finish. Completely geek out over Turbo’s signature touch on this gem.

Multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated record producer, Turbo has been one of the most sought-after hip-hop producers of the past decade, working with the likes of Gunna, Young Thug, Travis Scott, Drake, Lil Baby, Playboi Carti, Lil Durk, Nav, etc. His discography over the years has included Billboard top 100 hits including "Drip Too Hard" with Gunna & Lil Baby, "YOSEMITE" with Travis Scott, Gunna, & Nav, "Close Friends" by Lil Baby, and "Quarantine Clean" with Young Thug & Gunna.

2024 may prove to be Turbo's biggest year yet. Following the May release of Gunna's fifth studio album, "one of wun" (peaked at #2 on the Billboard 200) which Turbo executive produced, Turbo's been expanding his catalogue of artists with Roddy Ricch's new single "Survivors Remorse" and Moneybagg Yo's  "WHISKEY, WHISKEY" with Morgan Wallen and he's also been growing his label THE PLAYMAKERS. Currently, Turbo is putting the finishing touches on SleazyWorld Go's debut album as well. As a culmination of all of the personal growth the hitmaking producer has been going through this past year, Turbo has been hard at work in the studio working on his own first full-length project.

You have to give it up to Atlanta rap star Gunna. The hip-hop heavyweight has stepped up to partner with the Black Music Action Coalition for a massive plan to help 30 families around Georgia with assisting to cover residential bills and make life a lot easier.

Gunna and BMAC have a massive $500,000 initiative for Georgia families

No matter your take on Gunna’s hit-making ability, it’s clear his soul and heart is in Georgia with this massive move. Handfuls of families will receive $1,000 stipends each month as part of the rap crooner’s rollout.

Atlanta rap icon and four-time GRAMMY® Award nominee Gunna has teamed up  with the Black Music Action Coalition (BMAC) to launch the Gunna x BMAC 30349 Guaranteed Income Program. This $500,000 initiative will provide a $1,000 monthly stipend to 30 families residing in the 30349 zip code of South Fulton, GA. Gunna and BMAC co-founder, president, and CEO Willie “Prophet” Stiggers are excited to announce that applications for the program are now open through the link HERE

The Guaranteed Income and Support Program builds on Gunna’s ongoing efforts to enhance financial stability and quality of life in the South Fulton community. It also complements BMAC’s mission to combat poverty and create equal opportunities for black/brown people across the country.

The program also expands Gunna’s work in his community including Gunna’s Drip Closet, a free in-school clothing store and the Goodr Grocery Store at McNair Middle School, where students have access to necessities for free. The goal of the new program will give families a guaranteed monthly income via cash placed directly in their hands for a year and most importantly, provide support services ranging from financial empowerment to mental health. Gunna and BMAC will work with the Mayor of South Fulton, Khalid Kamua, and community organizations that service the city of South Fulton, GA to identify the recipients.

The program will officially launch September 18.

“As Mayor of South Fulton, I am deeply committed to fostering economic opportunities and uplifting our community. The partnership between Gunna, BMAC, and the City of South Fulton represents a transformative step in addressing the economic disparities that some of our residents' face. The Gunna x BMAC 30349 Guaranteed Income Program is not just an investment in our city's future, but a powerful example of how we can create meaningful change through collaboration and innovation. I am proud to support this initiative and look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on the families in our community.” — Khalid Kamau, Mayor of South Fulton

"When I launched Gunna's Great Giveaway, my goal was to uplift my hometown by providing resources that could make a tangible difference in at least one household. Partnering with BMAC to introduce the Guaranteed Income program in South Fulton is a significant step toward enhancing these communities and transforming the economic landscape of the city. " - GUNNA, GRAMMY® Award Nominated & Multi-Platinum Recording Artist

“BMAC's mission to achieve systemic equity must begin with economic justice. Black Americans are too often locked out of critical opportunities and pathways to climb the socioeconomic ladder despite being central to every cultural and financial movement in this country’s history. Partnering with Gunna to bring needed financial relief and, more importantly, mentorship and other services leading to sustainable change is very powerful. Our organization will continue to partner with Artists and others looking to put equity in action so our community can tap into its fullest potential.” -Willie “Prophet” Stiggers, Co-Founder/President & CEO of Black Music Action Coalition (BMAC)

BMAC will also tap into their network in the music, film, fashion and tech space to help mentor the recipients of the grant.

Gunna and Prophet will highlight the program onstage during the annual BMAC Gala on September 19, with celebrations continuing September 29 to commemorate Gunna Day. (Official Gunna Day - September 16)

Together, they add another dimension to the original. Gunna pulls up with an instantly quotable verse powered by his signature laidback delivery. In the accompanying visual, JNR Choi arrives at a party in a mansion. Surrounded by models, he dances outside, kicks it in a bounce house, and hangs by the pool. It unfolds as a total mood befitting of the song’s effervescent, effortless, and ethereal spirit.

Continuing to make headlines, Billboard just showcased JNR Choi in a recently launched feature where he was named Chartbreaker of the Month. Meanwhile, he will be taking over Billboard’s Instagram today at 3:30 EST. Be sure to follow! Additionally, HotNewHipHop raved, JNR Choi’s breakout song is the perfect mix of drill and mood music.

Atlanta rapper Young Thug knows the competition is slim to none these days. Thugger has stepped up to remind the world of his greatness and a couple of other hip-hop heavyweights he puts into the Top 3.

Young Thug names rap game’s Top 3

Slime went to his Instagram page with a snapshot of himself posted up alongside Atlanta’s Lil Baby and Gunna. Instead of whipping up a long caption, Thugger simply cited themselves as the top of their class presumably in hip-hop.

“Top 3 don’t @ 🅿️”

Young Thug promises Atlanta runs the rap game

In a recent interview, Thugger dished on what just made the A super special and why he didn’t see any other city overtaking the rap scene like his own hometown.

“The Southern hospitality, man. It’s Black, it’s just Black as f*ck. The youth kinda own everything, the newer generation run everything. Everybody got hearts, everybody love each other — well, for the most part. It ain’t that many haters. … I don’t see no city taking over Atlanta - because we steady having new artists come from Atlanta, bruh, and we getting bigger and bigger and bigger. The biggest artists that are popping right now are from Atlanta. We gon’ keep going higher and higher. I don’t see no other city gaining the number one spot again. We got it.”

Young Thug shoots to No. 1

A few months ago, Thugger had some serious bragging rights. His PUNK album shot up the Billboard Top 200 chart and dominated the competition.

In an unstoppable run this year, Young Thug earns his second #1 album of 2021 as PUNK debuts at the top of the Billboard 200 Albums ChartPUNK, released via Young Stoner Life/300 Entertainment, is Thug’s second album release of the year, following his and Young Stoner Life Records’ compilation album Slime Language 2which also debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 in April 2021. PUNK is also Thug’s third #1 album, following Slime Language 2 and 2019’s So Much Fun,

Earning multiple 5-star reviews, and heralded by Rolling Stone as an album where ‘Thug is at his most grounded’, with Vulture adding that ‘Thug is doing whatever he wants. Everyone else is meeting the challenge’, PUNK has ushered in a new era of Thugger both sonically and aesthetically, and has been embraced globally by fans and critics alike.

300 Entertainment CEO Kevin Liles knew how much of an achievement this was for both YT and the label. He’s since dished on Thugger’s latest career achievement.

“Artist development and evolution are the biggest forms of currency in the sustainability and relevancy of an artist in the entertainment industry. Young Thug’s undeniable dedication, vision, and relentless work ethic are unmatched and show how much he has doubled down on his artistry. I’m proud of Young Thug for not only checking the boxes, but creating his own space outside of the box. Though we have been by Young Thug’s side for eight years, his two number one albums in one year is only the beginning of his story.”
