Atlanta rapper Young Thug knows the competition is slim to none these days. Thugger has stepped up to remind the world of his greatness and a couple of other hip-hop heavyweights he puts into the Top 3.
Young Thug names rap game’s Top 3
Slime went to his Instagram page with a snapshot of himself posted up alongside Atlanta’s Lil Baby and Gunna. Instead of whipping up a long caption, Thugger simply cited themselves as the top of their class presumably in hip-hop.
“Top 3 don’t @ 🅿️”
Young Thug promises Atlanta runs the rap game
In a recent interview, Thugger dished on what just made the A super special and why he didn’t see any other city overtaking the rap scene like his own hometown.
“The Southern hospitality, man. It’s Black, it’s just Black as f*ck. The youth kinda own everything, the newer generation run everything. Everybody got hearts, everybody love each other — well, for the most part. It ain’t that many haters. … I don’t see no city taking over Atlanta - because we steady having new artists come from Atlanta, bruh, and we getting bigger and bigger and bigger. The biggest artists that are popping right now are from Atlanta. We gon’ keep going higher and higher. I don’t see no other city gaining the number one spot again. We got it.”
Young Thug shoots to No. 1
A few months ago, Thugger had some serious bragging rights. His PUNK album shot up the Billboard Top 200 chart and dominated the competition.
In an unstoppable run this year, Young Thug earns his second #1 album of 2021 as PUNK debuts at the top of the Billboard 200 Albums Chart. PUNK, released via Young Stoner Life/300 Entertainment, is Thug’s second album release of the year, following his and Young Stoner Life Records’ compilation album Slime Language 2, which also debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 in April 2021. PUNK is also Thug’s third #1 album, following Slime Language 2 and 2019’s So Much Fun,
Earning multiple 5-star reviews, and heralded by Rolling Stone as an album where ‘Thug is at his most grounded’, with Vulture adding that ‘Thug is doing whatever he wants. Everyone else is meeting the challenge’, PUNK has ushered in a new era of Thugger both sonically and aesthetically, and has been embraced globally by fans and critics alike.
300 Entertainment CEO Kevin Liles knew how much of an achievement this was for both YT and the label. He’s since dished on Thugger’s latest career achievement.
“Artist development and evolution are the biggest forms of currency in the sustainability and relevancy of an artist in the entertainment industry. Young Thug’s undeniable dedication, vision, and relentless work ethic are unmatched and show how much he has doubled down on his artistry. I’m proud of Young Thug for not only checking the boxes, but creating his own space outside of the box. Though we have been by Young Thug’s side for eight years, his two number one albums in one year is only the beginning of his story.”
