How else do you do a New Music Friday than getting some serious audio heat courtesy of a rap artist like Reuben Vincent? It’s repeat-worthy tunes and big flows you can’t overlook courtesy of the newly released General Admission album.

Reuben Vincent’s ‘General Admission’ album has arrived

While the project only comes loaded with seven tunes and clocks in at just over twenty minutes, Vincent slaps with each record. Shining on his own or relying on collaborations like ‘JUMP’ with Malaya, it’s all eyes and ears on General Admission.

As he finishes up the last few dates with Bas for the 24-city We Only Talk About Real Shit When Were Fucked Up Tour (Reuben will also join Bas for the second consecutive year performing at the Dreamville Festival), The THIRD WORLD General, Reuben Vincent, is back with his new EP General Admission, which is now available via Jamla Records/Roc Nation.

The 23-year old rapper and producer, who was recently profiled by XXL, and highlighted by iHeartMedia as one of its 24 Rising Hip-Hop Artists To Watch in 2024. is a generational talent straight out of Charlotte, NC, by way of West Africa, Liberia.  Reuben Vincent carries the window of a soul who has lived many lives before, and that transcends through the music he creates.  Yet, with General Admission, not only is Reuben delving deeper into his THIRD WORLD Liberian heritage, he is inviting everyone else to do so with him as well; it’s General Admission ya’ll—everyone is welcome.

General Admission finds Reuben at his most introspective, balancing the wordplay, awareness and bravado you have come to expect from him.  With General Admission, Vincent explores generational trauma and triumph, self-identity, success, struggle, and growth, all over a gumbo palette of soulful, southern, and tribal sounds.

“The reason behind the title General Admission is, since building up my brand identity, when I go out a lot of people call me “Third World General,’ when they see me, which lead me to play off General Admission; with admission meaning ticket, but also a statement of acknowledging the truth of something” Reuben offers.  “With the EP, my goal was to capture my mental state.  With this career of mine, I have the premonition that I am going to break generational curses—and bring generational wealth.  Though that’s the underlying tone of these songs, on the surface, it’s aggressive; ambitious, and assertive; and 75% high-energy records.  I speak on my city, my upbringing, family ties, my cousins, beating depression, and generational wealth.”

With General Admission, Reuben Vincent transcends generations, as he mixes in the sounds of the new, the now, and the influence of the golden era.  General Admission is the next step in Reuben Vincent’s undeniable ascension, and his plans to become a household name, authentic talent and build a THIRD WORLD empire.

To celebrate the release of his new EP, Reuben also released a new visual for “Big Bank,” which can be viewed below.

Reuben Vincent: The 'Big Bank' anthem sets the stakes high for what's brewing with Bas

It’s clear Reuben Vincent is going to have his messages set to ‘Away’ for the next few months. With a new ‘Big Bank’ anthem getting ample streams since its release to gearing up to hit the road with Dreamville’s Bas, RV is staying busy-busy.

Reuben Vincent’s ‘Big Bank’ gets the mood set right-right

While the Bas news is big by itself, it’s clear the ‘Big Bank’ song is reason enough to geek out and expect to see it performed live.

“Big Bank Don’t Take Bo Bo (Lil Bank)”…  After an incredibly redemptive week performing at NBA All Star Weekend and the announcement that he will be joining Bas for his 24-city We Only Talk About Real Shit When Were Fucked Up Tour (which will include his second consecutive year performing at the Dreamville Festival), Reuben Vincent returns with a new single, “Big Bank,” which is now available at all DSP’s, and a new project announcement.

There is no question that Reuben Vincent is an emerging star.  The Tidal Rising Artist is releasing his new single, “Big Bank,” on the heels of his most successful single to date in "FUFU," which was released in January and his recent performance at NBA All-Star Weekend.  After being named one of HipHopDX’s Rising Stars Of 2023 and tapped by Apple Music/Ebro as a “Discovered Artist, for his 2023 debut album, Love Is War, Reuben has already been highlighted by iHeartMedia as one of its 24 Rising Hip-Hop Artists To Watch in 2024.

With “FUFU,” Reuben brought his fans further into his culture and West African (Liberia) roots, “Big Bank” takes that ideology even further with a worldly perspective.  “Coming from an African household, “Big Bank” came about in the midst of me wanting to create a sound that catered to all of the aspects of who I am” Reuben affirmed.  “When Beloved, Henny (producers of “Big Bank”) and I got into the studio, we wanted to make something that connected all of our worlds.  “Boa Boa” means “small boy,” so “Big Bank Don’t Take Boa Boa”- means Big Bank Don’t Take Little Bank.  This record is more bravado, and the pride in my heritage, and who I am; and standing on that!”

Reuben’s forthcoming General Admission EP will be released this spring, and will further immerse you into his burgeoning movement and third world takeover.

Reuben Vincent: Reason and Stacy Barthe pull through for the 'Bottle Service'

You know it’s bragging rights when Reuben Vincent is able to deliver a new ‘Bottle Service’ music video to the masses with more than just himself involved. The hip-hop artist secures both Reason and Stacy Barthe for the newly released cinematic visual.

You know it’s bragging rights when Reuben Vincent is able to deliver a new ‘Bottle Service’ music video to the masses with more than just himself involved. The hip-hop artist secures both Reason and Stacy Barthe for the newly released cinematic visual.

Reuben Vincent’s ‘Bottle Service’ is non-stop

More than just an anthem, Vincent pushes a very direct message with the new music video. Feel the direction and tap in for nearly four minutes of thought-provoking visually impact.

There is no question that Reuben Vincent is an emerging star.  After recently releasing his Jamla/Roc Nation debut album, Love Is War, Reuben’s been named one of HipHopDX’s Rising Stars Of 2023 and tapped by Apple Music/Ebro as a “Discovered Artist,” and his ascension has been documented by Pitchfork, Complex, Uproxx, Revolt, 2 DopeBoyz, Okayplayer, Essence, HotNewHipHop, Brooklyn Vegan, and Vibe to name just a few.

On the heels of his recent standout performances, including performing at halftime of the Charlotte Hornets vs. Indiana Pacers game on 3-20 (a true bucket list moment for the Charlotte native), and festival performances at SXSW and the Dreamville Festival, Reuben has released a new visual for his latest single “Bottle Service.”

“Bottle Service” features another breakout star in TDE’s Reason and Stacy Barthe and together they address alcoholism, its effect on the family dynamic and passed down generational trauma.

The message is as universal as it is relatable.  “We know the bottle/like the back of our hand/Fallin’ victim to the patterns/I resembled my Daddy he loved his (bottle)/more than he loved himself/more than he loved his kids/more than he loved his health.”

With the “Bottle Service” video I wanted to capture the effect of alcohol abuse and how the disease mutates generationally through families.  Though he wasn’t my biological father, I grew up with a man in the house who had a drinking problem, and I saw how that affected my whole family” Reuben discloses.  “I wanted to capture those emotions in this video and touch on something that needs much more awareness. The highs, the lows, the pain, and the agony.  Not to make things somber, but this is my sober truth.”

Reuben Vincent’s Jamla/Roc Nation debut album, Love Is War, is a conceptual, yet subtly constructed project that will place him at the forefront of debates about the new rap greats.  Unpacking relationships and romantic entanglements over warm, soulful beats from 9th Wonder, Young Guru, The Soul Council, and his own production, whose collective work both modernizes and morphs boom-bap.  With polished and varied flows, Reuben weighs the time spent on love against the hours necessary to pursue his art and dreams.  Love Is War also features guest appearances from Rapsody, Reason (TDE), Domani and Stacy Barthe.

Reuben Vincent's 'Trickin' sets the tone for weekend goals flexing

The weather is only getting colder and so it’s tougher not to want a little bit of warm love to get you through these winter months. So leave it to Reuben Vincent and the hard-hitting ‘Trickin’ anthem to set the tone for what weekends goals might be shaping up to be.

Reuben Vincent’s ‘Trickin’ is hitting extra hard

With Friday officially here, Reuben gets things rocking with the new audio gem. Slated to drop a full-fledged project later this month, Vincent comes correct on the fire single.

Today, Jamla/Roc Nation Records announced the release of Reuben Vincent’s new single, “Trickin,” featuring Domani.  “Trickin” includes an intro from comedian Katt Williams and is produced by Andre Mego, with additional production from 9th Wonder and Young Guru.  “Trickin” is now available.

“It Ain’t Trickin If You Got It!”  With “Trickin,” these two young and emerging stars tackle the complexities of relationships/sitautionships that are prevalent amongst Generation Z.

“Trickin” is a tale of three stories. The song amplifies the wrongs in dating culture today for my generation and how it plays out in different scenarios” Reuben Vincent clarifies.  “The first verse is something I lived. I was involved with a girl in a situationship, and once she caught feelings I became detached and acknowledge my imperfections.  In the second verse I speak from the perspective of a guy “Trickin” on a girl, thinking he has the upper hand when ultimately it’s the other way around. I’ve lived the first experience first-hand and witnessed the second one happen to many other people. After I recorded my verses, I drove down to Atlanta the next day and played it for Domani and he immediately hopped on it; the rest is history.”

“All ima say is make sure you remember when, and where you were when you first heard this song because that question WILL be asked in the next ten years” Domani confidently asserts.  “Trickin” is Storytelling + Vulnerable-Ignorance= Art.”
