Teyana Taylor's coming out of retirement for one special night

You can call it a comeback - sorta. R&B singer Teyana Taylor is giving fans some much-needed excitement by getting added to the Big Femme Energy Live event going down this week in Los Angeles.

Teyana Taylor’s coming out of retirement for one night

Both Amazon Music and Femme It Forward are set to put out the red carpet for Taylor to come through as a special guest. The exclusive stream will happen through the Amazon Music channel on Twitch.

Amazon Music and Femme It Forward today revealed multi-talented singer-songwriter, actress and dancer Teyana Taylor is coming out of retirement for one night only as a special guest performer for the upcoming “Big Femme Energy Live” show on March 24, streaming live from Los Angeles’ Belasco Theater exclusively on the Amazon Music channel on Twitch starting at 7 p.m. PT.

Sharing a message of autonomy and resilience, Amazon Music has teamed up with Femme It Forward – a women-led music and entertainment company that empowers creative and accomplished women visionaries— to celebrate the accomplishments of women in entertainment, both onstage and behind the scenes. Following the successful debut of last year’s Big Femme Energy Vol. 1, an all-female compilation album, Femme It Forward will host the Big Femme Energy Live experience on March 24 where fans will get to experience an evening of live performances from singers Teyana Taylor, Ambré, Baby Rose, SAYGRACE, and Mapy—backed by an all-women symphony orchestra.

Teyana Taylor says believe the hype

TT has since stepped forward to confirm the big performance and explain the motivation behind hitting the stage for the masses.

“Sometimes we gotta take the time to smell our Roses even after the Last Petal falls. I can’t imagine a better way to close out Women’s History month than by celebrating with a group of phenomenal female artists and musicians to showcase our gifts together in this event to honor women around the world.”

Femme It Forward CEO and president Heather Lowery also issued a statement on the epic team-up.

“With March being the time of year when people celebrate women’s contributions to society, we decided that now would be a great time to release The Making of Big Femme Energy. While creating the album, it became evident that we, as women, make up the fabric of the entertainment industry. However, when it comes down to owning and distributing works of art, we oftentimes face barriers that our male counterparts do not,” said Heather Lowery, president and CEO of Femme It Forward. “Viewers will get a firsthand look into the blood, sweat, and many tears that went into making something seemingly as simple as an all-women compilation album. Our hope is that after viewing the film and tuning into the Big Femme Energy Liveexperience on March 24 with Amazon Music, we’ll move beyond just celebrating women once a year and truly start to recognize the benefits that we provide to the industry through our dedication, hard work, and creativity on a daily basis.”

The Making of Big Femme Energy doc

It’s bigger than just the performance. Apple Music and Femme It Forward have a special documentary set to stream on March 29 in celebration of putting together the huge event.

Following the Big Femme Energy Live experience, fans can go even deeper with The Making of Big Femme Energy, a 15-minute documentary featuring artist interviews and behind-the-scenes footage detailing how the Big Femme Energy album and tour came together. The Making of Big Femme Energy takes viewers behind the scenes of the making of Femme It Forward’s historic all-female compilation album, Big Femme Energy Vol. 1, giving them a firsthand look into the collaborative process, including working with an all-female team to create an authentic and celebratory work of art, and the immense pressure facing women both onstage and behind the scenes in a male-dominated industry. Featuring commentary from musicians Sinéad Harnett, Lauren Jauregui, Kiana Ledé, Muni Long, Tayla Parx, Rapsody, SAYGRACE, director Annie Bercy, recording engineer Marcella “Ms. Lago” Araica, Femme It Forward CEO Heather Lowery, and many others, The Making of Big Femme Energy is truly a celebration of women in music and entertainment.
