Trap Heals put together an epic two-night-only event you had to see

It’s not everyday you can experience an event strong enough to not only empower but motivate you to take your goals up to another level. Cultural agency Trap Heals put together an epic two-night only performance experience in celebration of Black futures in partnership with Black Lives Matter Global Network with endless star power and game-changing leaders.

UPLIFT brings together some powerful game-changers

The event kicked off with a short film on imagining abolition by activist, artist, and co-founder of Black Lives Matter Patrisse Cullors on the creation and meaning behind her “Abolition Pod” which also serves as a community garden at the Crenshaw Dairy Mart. There was also a focus on prison reform.

Executive Director of Equal Justice Initiative and author of Just Mercy, Bryan Stevenson made an appearance calling for justice and reform on mass incarceration. CEO and founder of Trap Heals, Damon Turner, then introduced Zyah Belle for her captivating performance.

Night two keeps the momentum going

The second outing had activists Joseph Williams from BLM LA and Amara Abdullah from BLM LA Youth Vanguard bringing awareness to their ongoing progress towards justice reform and their work re-imagining police-free schools and calling to end qualified immunity. For the rest of the evening, Jimetta Rose and The Voices of Creation provided a soulful and passionate performance to songs “Let The Sunshine In” and “Operation Feed Yourself.”
