Nike is the most popular sportswear brand in the US

Insert: Duh, right? There’s no question Nike really just do it when it comes to getting things right and with Kanye West having ties cut with Adidas, it’s looking like the playing field is only expanding for the brand. A new study shows it’s a no-brainer when it comes to the Oregon brand being the most popular sportswear in the nation.

Nike is winning, winning and winning in the sportswear world

While the competition can seem stiff courtesy of Adidas and PUMA, the fact is Nike is really in its own lane. Online shopping experts Rakuten come through with the detailed breakdown. Tap in.

New research has revealed the most popular sportswear brands in the US, with Nike coming out on top.

The study, carried out by online shopping experts Rakuten, analyzed Google searches across the past 12 months for different sportswear brands to see which brand is the most popular in the country.

It found that Nike takes the top spot on the list, receiving, on average, 6,650,000 searches a month. The company has primarily produced and distributed apparel, accessories, and sports equipment worldwide since its founding in 1964. Utah is the state that was found to be most interested in the brand based on Google Trends results.

Lululemon comes in second place, receiving, on average, 5,730,000 searches in the US every month. It comes in as a much younger company compared to other entries on the list, with searches growing exponentially following the pandemic. Minnesota is the state that was discovered to hold the most interest in the brand.

Adidas takes third place on the list, with an average monthly search volume of 2,550,000. The company is currently one of the oldest sportswear companies around. New York is the state that was found to be most interested in the brand.

Coming in fourth place is New Balance, with the brand receiving 1,640,000 searches a month on average in the US. It’s the oldest company in the top ten, founded in 1906. The state that was found to be most interested in the brand is Maryland.

Rounding out the top five is Under Armour, which comes in with 1,150,000 searches every month on average. Once again, Maryland came in as the state with the strongest interest in the brand.

Think California and Georgia are rocking sportswear the hardest? Think again.

According to Google Trends, the state most interested in Sportswear is New York, which Mississippi and Kansas then follow. New Mexico, Montana, and Vermont had the least interest.

This study was conducted by Rakuten, which offers coupons and cash-back services at more than 3,500 stores across the US.
