Joyner Lucas keeps it 100 on having to cancel a few shows

Lucas relied on the power of Instagram to keep things 100. Stepping up onto the digital powerhouse, Joyner acknowledged the amount of wear and tear his touring has had on his overall well-being.

‘Sorry I’ve had to cancel my last 2 shows off this tour, Seattle and New York. Everyone will be refunded. I been pushing my voice for the last 4 shows and fighting thru losing my voice. The last few shows my doctor gave me steroid shots in my throat so i can perform. Today my voice is completely gone. Joyner Lucas tags your favorite rap heavyweights for ‘Not Now I’m Busy’

Whether you want to embrace lyrical exercises with Logic and Conway The Machine or hear some posthumous heat courtesy of the late iconic DMX, it’s all in the line-up for Lucas’ newest audio offering.

Today, Grammy-nominated hip-hop artist Joyner Lucas released his highly-anticipated sophomore studio album titled "Not Now I'm Busy,” that includes star-studded collaborations with Jelly Roll, DMX, YoungBoy Never Broke Again, Twista, Logic, Symba, Conway the Machine and Nefertitti Avani and is currently available on all streaming platforms HERE.

The 17-song album takes listeners on a musical journey that showcases Joyner’s powerful storytelling ability over mesmerizing beats.  With “Three Little Pigs,” Joyner creatively uses his lyrics as a metaphor to describe the longstanding history of police violence against Black people across America.

It also includes the newly-released collaboration with Jelly Roll for “Best For Me,” which shines a powerful message on the importance of supporting loved ones battling substance abuse and addiction and lends a voice to those suffering in silence. The song reached No. 2 on iTunes Top Hip-Hop/Rap Songs chart and No. 6 on YouTube's Trending for music.

Not Now I'm Busy also includes Joyner’s previous releases from the past year, including “Sticks & Stones (feat.Conway The Machine),” “Seventeen,” “Broski,” “24 Hours to live,” “What’s That” and “Cut U Off (feat. YoungBoy Never Broke Again).”

The new album showcases Joyner’s evolution as an individual and independent artist since dropping his last album, “ADHD,” in March 2020. The project debuted in the Top-10 of the Billboard 200, earned RIAA gold certification, and solidified his position as one of the industry's most formidable rap talents.

Joyner recently announced his “Not Now I'm Busy” headlining tour, which will be a 24-city trek that will kick off on May 11 in Minneapolis at Uptown Theater and will include special appearances from rappers Millyz and Dax. Tickets are currently available for purchase HERE.

Joyner Lucas: The lyrical rap heavyweight reveals the process behind dropping his random fire

There’s no doubt - Joyner Lucas is nice-nice when it comes to the wordplay, putting out fire singles, must-see music videos and of course full-fledged studio albums. But rarely do you get the chance to get into his state of mind with the creative process - well, until now, of course.

There’s no doubt - Joyner Lucas is nice-nice when it comes to the wordplay, putting out fire singles, must-see music videos and of course full-fledged studio albums. But rarely do you get the chance to get into his state of mind with the creative process - well, until now, of course.

Joyner Lucas explains his state of mind with putting out new tunes

Lucas hit up his Instagram page to keep things 100 with how he’s releasing new audio gems. Instead of fluffing up his words, Joyner detailed his motivation behind putting out songs seemingly at a moment’s notice.

Here’s the truth. I started the album over 2 years ago. I finished it about 5 months ago. Wanted to create something different than the typical joyner so I started experimenting. I dropped a few records and a lot of the feedback I was getting wasnt too good. I realized that over 70% of the music on there was a little too left field. After hearing some of your feedback on a few joints I decided to scrap the album and restart over again and that’s what I been doing. I had a lot of features from artists i feel you wouldn’t have wanted to hear me collaborate with.

So now I am creating the album in real time and I’m constantly adding to it. I’m listening to your opinions on what you don’t like and what you like and im scrapping things and replacing it with other things that I know you will love. I know you’re frustrated with the wait and I apologize. I love going againts the grain and doing things in an unconventional way. I wanna say I love and appreciate everyone of my supporters who have been supporting me.

Thank you for all the continued love and for going so hard for me. Pause. ♥️❤️ I’m going to continue to release records at random until I feel like it’s complete. I promise when I drop I will leave a lot of unreleased records on there. I love you and I’m sorry.. #NOTNOWIMBUSY

Joyner Lucas: The new 'What's That?' anthem really does hit hard

Is there anyone as lyrical as Joyner Lucas representing New England? The hip-hop heavyweight comes through with another audio gem from his upcoming Not Now, I’m Busy studio album in the form of his ‘What’s That?’ tune.

Is there anyone as lyrical as Joyner Lucas representing New England? The hip-hop heavyweight comes through with another audio gem from his upcoming Not Now, I’m Busy studio album in the form of his ‘What’s That?’ tune.

Joyner Lucas’ ‘What’s That?’ really does hit hard

Whether you’re here for the instrumental or love Joyner’s lyrics, the song deserves ample repeats in preparation for the August studio effort rollout.

The New England native fires off sonically-charged bars and showcases his versatility in the electrifying track. On the new single, Joyner fact-checks Google when it comes to his net worth, enjoying the bachelor lifestyle and stacking up millions.

"What’s That?”  is the third release from Joyner’s forthcoming album, coming after he dropped “Blackout (feat Future)” in April and “Devil’s Work Part 2” in March. The latter was a thought-provoking single, where he rapped about changing the course of time and stopping Will Smith from slapping Chris Rock, preventing Kobe Bryant from taking a helicopter in January 2020 and eradicating the vape cartridges from Brittney Griner’s bag before her trip to Russia.

It’s been non-stop slaps for Joyner. He continues to put out fire and there’s no sign of slowing down.

“What’s This?,” “Blackout” and “Devil’s Work Part 2” reaffirms Joyner’s ability to effortlessly flow over a range of beats. Whether it’s a club-banging sound or a menacing beat, he demonstrates a unique ability to adjust his cadence no matter the producer or fellow collaborator.

His upcoming album, Not Now, I’m Busy, will mark Joyner’s first album in three years. His last album ADHD, debuted in the Top-10 of the Billboard 200, earned RIAA gold certification, sparked a much-needed conversation about mental health and established a new template for success that independent artists could follow.

Beyond the release of his new album, the Boston native is gearing up for a massive year, considering his latest pivot into acting. He recently announced that he’ll be starring alongside Mark Wahlberg in an upcoming film, a role that Wahlberg personally cast him for.

Joyner Lucas feels Bobby Shmurda’s co-signs

JL hit up his Instagram page to share footage of Shmurda showing him major love. Specifically, the footage features Bobby explaining his issue with people not paying more attention to the success Lucas is achieving on his solo hustle.

“I been telling Google to put some respek on my net worth for years.. Lol they still got me at 3 million. 😭 @itsbobbyshmurda thank u for this 🙏🏽”

And what exactly did Bobby say? How about the fact Joyner is banking around $250,000 on a monthly basis from music alone?

“One thing that I hate about the industry is they don’t talk about Joyner Lucas. You know who that is? He’s dope. Why they don’t talk about him? He can sit in his house and actually making a quarter of a million a month off his, for shit he’s putting out there that y’all are supporting. That’s why I’m like I’m supporting you, I’m not buying someone else’s shit in Beverly Hills. ‘I ain’t buying your shit, you don’t own any of your shit but you out here lying and everything but they’re going to put you everywhere - they’re going to put you on the Rolling Loud.’”
