Good Burger's Kel Mitchell celebrates 25th anniversary, talks Kenan Thompson bond, Ed battle rapping his wife and his new book (Exclusive)

It’s not everyday you get to live out your childhood memories and meet people directly connected into shaping the person you’ve become. Fortunately, with the 25th anniversary of the Good Burger movie happening this summer and the new release of its celebratory steelbook Blu-ray packed with collector’s edition content, the legendary Kel Mitchell found some time to talk to Attack The Culture about the iconic Nickelodeon franchise.

From dishing on how much Good Burger has contributed to the culture to the debate between Kel’s notorious fictional love for orange soda and his upcoming children’s book, the chop up session is unbelievably fun and memorable from start to finish.

Check out a few interview highlights and keep scrolling to watch the full interview.

I’ve got to ask you. At what age do you force your kids to sit through an amazing Good Burger movie? I know you’re a big dad and you’ve got the children’s book coming out - but Good Burger is part of my culture. When do the kids have to get that history lesson of Good Burger?

Kel: You know, at any age, really. Everyone loves Ed. I’ve got adult kids and I also got toddlers and they all love Good Burger. I just recently saw a kid online that had a Good Burger-themed birthday party and he’s only five years old. He’s not the only one that’s done this. There’s been a bunch of them. It’s just a cool thing to have a movie you can enjoy with the entire family.

Their parents saw it when they were kids and now they can experience it with their kids. I do the same thing with my kids and turn it on. We have some burgers and watch it. So it’s just super, super cool to have this film that has still lasted all these years and people enjoy it.

One thing that I think goes over a lot of people’s heads is how dope that soundtrack is. 702. George Clinton. Ed’s ‘We’re All Dudes,’ obviously the best song on the soundtrack. Can we hype up how dope that soundtrack is, please?

Kel: Super dope. To be able to be with 702, ‘All I Want’ was such a great song. [Executive] Brian Robbins, also president of Nickelodeon and at the time he loved hip-hop so much, just like myself, and we were already doing the ‘All That’ soundtrack as well. Music was very much a part of ‘All That,’ the sketch comedy show so it just made sense that the Good Burger soundtrack would be just as dope.

Just having all these amazing artists, I mean, Warren G is on the Good Burger soundtrack. Pharcyde is on there as well. I’m on there with the ‘I’m A Dude,’ full song with Less Than Jake. It still keeps going to this day.

Kel, I’ve got to ask you. Ed versus Asia Lee, your wife, in a freestyle battle. Who’s winning? Your wife is very skilled in this music industry. Ed is very nice with ‘Dude,’ I think ‘Dude,’ rhymes with a ton of different things. Who wins in a freestyle battle?

Kel: Oh my wife wins in everything! [laughs] My wife wins in everything. Shout-out to my wife. My wife is my biggest fan.

One thing I have to ask you is Good Burger is a bromance but it’s really that chemistry with Kenan is deeper than Good Burger. You and Kenan, oh my God, we’re talking about ‘All That,’ the sketch Clavis & Mavis, you guys have always had that bond. Of course four seasons which is insane in today’s times for ‘Kenan & Kel,’ just talk about that bond you guys still have to this day.

Kel: To this day, with us being fathers now, we talk about that all the time. We give each other advice. We talk about our journey as well. To see people really enjoying this and being able to share with them, even with this collectable, this DVD, it’s just been super awesome. We talk about that stuff all the time.

We talk about regular stuff and it’s just a great friendship. It’s cool when you can have a cast member - because it is work. So to have a cast member but then off of work you still stay in contact and our family, our moms are like best friends. It’s super cool to be able to have that.

I don't think enough people know you’re an official author. Not just with Prank Day coming out in September, which will be your second book - of course you put out your Blessed Mode book, just talk about your venture into writing. We know you as a stand-up comedian and actor, but being an author as well.

Kel: I love to write. I love telling really compelling stories that mean a lot. So I’ve done that with movies and the television and now being an author with my second book, this is called Prank Day. It’s a super, super fun book. The animation is amazing. Shout-out to Santy [Gutierrez], who is my illustrator.

It’s about a kid who on April Fool’s Day, he does all these pranks but here’s the thing - the next day on April 2, all the pranks come true. He has to figure out why. So it’s a race against time. There’s a refrigerator running around. There’s clowns coming out of toilets. It’s bananas.

And I just love movies that are fun, fantasy. Race against time films. So I wanted to write that within a book for kids to enjoy. So Prank Day, September 6. Get that and read the book. Also watch Good Burger again. The steelbook is out, July 19.

There’s just a lot of great things happening.

The Good Burger Blu-ray steelbook is now available and comes with a Digital HD option for viewing from your favorite mobile devices and tons of special features in celebration of the film’s 25th anniversary.

Check out the full interview with Kel Mitchell talking acting, legacy and Good Burger’s Ed legend.

Karmalink's Jake Wachtel makes Cambodia proud, digs into his sci-fi thriller and talks movie-making (Exclusive)

It’s time to put some major respect on Jake Wachtel’s name. The moviemaker’s long-awaited and much-needed first-ever Cambodian sci-fi thriller - Karmalink - has finally released to the masses and gives way to his passion project which puts an entirely different twist to the genre and told through an amazing cast young enough to give the ‘Stranger Things’ cast a run for the money with their superb and heartfelt acting.

The American-born director takes some time with Attack The Culture to dish on everything from the essence of his movie debut’s ultimate goal in storytelling to explaining the importance of breaking new ground in the Cambodian culture. Kick back with some of these interview highlights and keep scrolling to check out the full conversation.

We’re finally at that point where you can unleash your baby to the world. Can you exhale yet?

Jake: Oh yeah, I love exhaling. I’m an avid mediator. That’s actually the movie was born on a meditation retreat. So inhaling and exhaling, it’s kind of a big part of this process for sure. It’s a big milestone in the life of the film and I’m super stoked to finally get to share it with the wider public.

As a director, as a filmmaker is there any extra confidence or excitement seeing the success of your peers of foreign films and I don't just mean Parasite, I'm talking about so many films you saw this with Roma you know the Mexican film a few years back and just in general, all that good stuff. Jake. Excited?

Jake: My love of cinema began, I was obsessed with magic tricks when I was a little kid. I loved performing magic tricks. And then I started making movies to make magic tricks and, and in the very earliest days, movies were about showing magic tricks. And then that sort of evolved when I was in college and I started getting into watching I took a class on the history of global cinema and I got turned on to all of these amazing filmmakers from the history of cinema from all over the world. And seeing that this idea of magic transmuted and transformed to understanding how cinema can collapse distance between us in faraway places but also the people that live in those faraway places we get to be intimately invited into their lives. And that's something that's so beautiful and I love to travel, it is one of my great passions in this life and come into contact with new people and cinema lets you do it. You can sit at home and then you get to be invited into the life into the living room of someone who lived on the other side of the world. Cambodia is about as far away as you can get from Silicon Valley where I come from. So I love this project of collapsing distance.

Having actually taught these two children - going from teaching them to directing them just talk about that and specifically why you went with these two individuals.

Jake: I mean, that was the vision from the very get-go when I talked about this film, popping into my head on a meditation retreat. It happened, everything clicked when I realized that my two favorite film students, you know as a teacher, I'm not supposed to have favorites, but these kids were like, they were my star pupils and they were 10, 11 years old when I was teaching them. I spent a year teaching filmmaking in Cambodia before I had the idea for the film. And it was realizing that these two kids were the main characters.

You got Leng Hem, the constant dreamer. A big open heart and super kind to everyone with a head in the clouds. Then Srey Leak, who is a head shorter than everyone and she’s like the big boss and you don't want to cross her. It was seeing the film materialized with them in the leads, them playing some form of heightened version of themselves, it was a part of it from the beginning. And then getting to go through that process of a long rehearsal period and then making the film with them. It was a crazy thing to do in my life to make a sci fi movie in Cambodia, but to have that long standing relationship with my two lead actors, I think kept the three of us really grounded in this process where there's a lot of like chaos swirling around.

Absolutely. And we wouldn’t be Attack The Culture without talking about the culture and I love the fact I went into Karmalink thinking okay, this is gonna be Goonies meets Stranger Things meets Black Mirror, right? And what I actually end up getting from it is a dose or actually that’s an understatement, a massive dose of amazing Cambodian culture.

Of course the sci-fi element is there, but I could see you know what you were doing, man? The family element, of course, Buddhism, the fact that you know nearly what 95% of folks in Cambodia you know, practice Buddhism or a form of it. Um, there's so much of the culture of Cambodia in this film that you know, sci-fi is there but what I just cannot get enough of all that structure definitely talk about of course keeping true to your love for sci fi, but making sure that you really spoke to the Cambodian culture.

Jake: Yeah, I mean, that was I think that's probably the reason why I was so excited and so committed to this idea is that I haven't seen a sci fi movie in a place like Cambodia, there's just not a whole lot of that out there. This genre can be a little bit I don't know, elitist or something. You think of sci fi, you think of Silicon Valley. And so I wanted a story that felt very, to tell the story. I was excited. I was like, oh, I want to see a story that's dealing with sci fi themes, but that feels like very Cambodian in its DNA.

Obviously, I'm not Cambodian. And so for that I really had to rely on my Cambodian collaborators that every step of the way to, to bring their to bring their culture and share it on screen. And it's something that I'm really proud of that we're able to capture a lot of nuance, and subtlety and aspects of the culture that I really love and for me, I think coming from the West and seeing the way that the family and community functions was something that I really wanted to celebrate, you know, so it's, it's, it's hard. It's a film about relationships. It's got all this crazy sci fi stuff, but it's about community.

Escape The Field director Emerson Moore talks his new horror thriller must-see, filming during pandemic and more (Exclusive)

The wait is finally over - Escape The Field is out and ready to be both screened and viewed at select theaters. With everyone crammed up at Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness screenings across the nation, give yourself a break from your typical superhero craziness and invite a little horror into your life with filmmaker Emerson Moore’s newest flick now available to watch.

In celebration of today’s massive rollout, the Hollywood director spoke to Attack The Culture to dish on everything from the motivation behind putting together a wild new thriller packed with mazes, puzzles and - you guessed it - corn plus his personal favorite genre of movies, filming during the pandemic and if there’s possible sequel - or prequel - thoughts in his head.

Check out a few of Emerson’s notable comments during the chop up session and keep scrolling to watch the nearly 10-minute convo - and don’t forget to check for Escape The Field streaming on-demand and in limited theaters across the nation.

Let’s just talk about the excitement overall. Of course you’re doing multiple media days, there’s a scrambling of trying to get people to talk to you, how exciting is this entire process for you right now?

Emerson: It’s great. I’m really excited. Lionsgate is doing an amazing job. I’m super happy and I feel like it’s a great home for the film. It was my first choice. Yeah. I’m feeling good.

Let’s talk about that for a brief moment. Lionsgate is known for being a powerhouse of amazing blockbusters - why does it feel like a perfect fit for you?

Emerson: They have a long history of films that are in this genre, that are in this lane, and they’re a director’s destination. They’ve treated me so well and super engaging and really trying to steer the film in the exact direction that I’m going and they’re a great partner. They’re a great partner to be with for sure. Come on, Cabin Fever on down the line, Saw.

How did this non-stop adventure of Escape The Field come together?

Emerson: We’ve been talking about it for years and it just all, it all congealed - we took it to Cannes, met with some partners, and then the pandemic happened and I thought, ‘Uh oh. This isn’t happening.’ And then the next thing I know I’m in the middle of a corn field in September 2020, in the heat of the pandemic. So, there were challenges that were presented but that’s the short version of how it happened.

Blessed to be able to work during that time and get this film done. That’s the backstory.

As a filmmaker but more on a personal note, what’s your favorite genre of movie? Nowadays you have the Marvel Universe, the superheroes and the dramas, but just you, I guess as both a filmmaker and maybe even in your personal life, what do you find yourself latching onto for viewing. Just for personal?

Emerson: Gosh, you know there are a lot of films that kind of shape what I gravitate towards. But I’m a huge horror thriller fan. I’ll get drawn into Haunting of Hill House in three seconds, that’s easy. Or gosh, more current films would be - and I know it’s 20 years now - but The Ring I remember and it’s so elevated. … You still look at The Conjuring and that movie is terrifying and no one dies. That’s fantastic. That’s the stuff I lean towards. Anything with great characters and a strong story and you’ll get it.

As a filmmaker, you want to get this out to everybody and have them see it however they see it but personally, do you see Escape The Field as a better experience on the big screen or at home with family and friends? How do you envision it?

Emerson: It plays really well on the big screen. I’ve seen it a few times on the big screen and you engage much quicker. At home, it plays great there as well. I encourage everybody to see it. Go try each.

One more thing for you Emerson! I do get answers but this is the type of film that could go either or. I could see a sequel or I could even see a prequel. Maybe you haven’t even thought that far in advance. Was that intentional or are you waiting to see the results? Do you have maybe what’s next in this if it hits ‘Squid Game’ level possibly?

Emerson: Yeah, I know where it’s going. I’ll leave it at that.

Catch the entire Emerson Moore conversation with his signature personality, quirky remarks and everything in-between below!

Pusha T's new 'Respect The Jux' flick is all types of Top Boy vibes

Missing ‘Top Boy’ right about now? While we wait for its final season to go into production, there’s a lot of reasons to get excited about the new Respect The Jux movie set to drop this week on multi-platforms because let’s face it, with Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness flooding theaters, you’re going to look for a reason to stay inside ahead of Mother’s Day.

Respect The Jux looks like insane fun

While the trailer hits hard, it’s really the overall plot which is an easy selling point for wanting to see this. The accents, seeing Paulie Walnuts from ‘The Sopranos’ and a bunch of other factors make this insanely exciting to crack into once it arrives Friday.

From writer & director G. C. Goba, comes the film adaptation of the celebrated urban crime thriller, "Respect The Jux". Heralded as one of the most prolific of its genre, and based on true events, "Respect the Jux" tells the story of Cat, a young Jamaican man with a corrupt past, who ventures to the United States on a quest to obtain the American dream, the "right" way - only to find it doesn't exist. Attempt after failed attempt, Cat finds himself in despair, and without many options, returns to his old ways. "Respect the Jux" is the age-old struggle between the good, the bad, betrayal, love, and success. By any means. Produced by Miami's own, Anthony "Tone" Jacobs alongside Executive Producer Pusha T.

The stacked Respect The Jux cast

It’s more than me geeking out over Paulie appearing in the film. There are also some other notable faces and even a hip-hop presence to the movie with New York rapper Vado flexing his acting chops.

Making its world premiere on Friday, May 6th, 2022 across all Pay Preview Platforms (Prime Video, HBO Now, Apple, Google Play, etc.) and casted by industry legend Winsome Sinclair (Belly, Nappily Ever After), the film features rising star Ciera Payton (The Walking Dead, The Oval) alongside veteran entertainers: Tony Sirico (Sopranos, Goodfellas, Bronx Tale), Robert Constanzo (Pulp Fiction, Die Hard 2), Tobias Truvillion (Seburg, Hitch), Ed Lover, rapper Vado.

Maitland Ward gives Rihanna edge over Victoria's Secret, hearts Squid Game + is about that Star Wars life (Exclusive)

Who doesn’t love Maitland Ward at this point? Oh - not too familiar with the 44-year-old Hollywood star who went from iconic productions like ‘Boy Meets World’ and White Chicks to taking the adult world by storm?

Who doesn’t love Maitland Ward at this point? Oh - not too familiar with the 44-year-old Hollywood star who went from iconic productions like ‘Boy Meets World’ and White Chicks to taking the adult world by storm?

For the record - she’s beyond amazing - and by this time your memory should start recalling the beautiful Maitland Ward - and while we’ve had these answers for a few days (or weeks, I’ll confess) the true intent was to wait for the official interview to go down but with the holidays here, we can’t hold it any longer - MW came through with some super quirky, fun and mind-blowing written responses to some questions we had to fire her way from Rihanna’s love life with A$AP Rocky and Savage x Fenty slaying to what’s in steady rotation for her workout playlist.

Without further ado, let’s crack right into 10 questions we had for Maitland Ward and her responses for all you loyal ATC readers, viewers and heads!

1. What’s the best and worst new thing you’ve watched on Netflix lately?

Best is ‘Squid Game.’ I just finished it and I loved it! Really great script and actors and I love how it makes you really think. I did not want to watch it at first because I heard it was super violent but I’m so glad a friend urged me to check it out. He told me you watched ‘Game of Thrones’ when they ripped a man’s face off, you will be fine. He was right, so I gave it a try. I definitely want season 2! Worst is ‘He’s All That.’ I checked it out because Addison is really cute and I love how she built her own name and brand but they threw that together so fast and sloppy. But I only watched like a half hour so maybe it got better??

2. What’s your all-time favorite movie?

Since the holidays are upon us, I love Bad Santa. It’s dark, twisted humor with a heart. And of course Empire Strikes Back is up there and I love Star Wars and Marvel movies. But I love to really laugh and Bad Santa was hysterical. Such a talented cast!

3. If you could add one much-needed feature to the next iPhone, what would it be?

I want the photos to be so good they can see inside my soul. And also anyone I take a picture of. That way I can tell if you’re a good person without having to text or talk first. Also a levitation feature for when it’s on the other side of the room and I don’t want to get up. Maybe you could call it like a dog and it would come to you.

4. If you suddenly had one social media page shut down forever, which could you live without – especially thinking back to when IG and Facebook had a huge outage a few weeks ago.

Facebook definitely. Although that’s where all my family and high school friends are. So definitely Facebook. Just kidding kinda.

5. What was your all-time favorite Halloween costume – ever?

When my boyfriend and I dressed up like M&M’s and went to The Ivy in LA for dinner before going to a party. The one where all the big celebs go. The food was great and everyone laughed at our costumes (in a nice way… maybe) but man it is not easy sitting in an M&M suit and eating a four course meal. It’s my favorite because it’s one that I always remember. But I also liked when I went to the Comikaze comic con right on Halloween weekend dressed as a devil and met Stan Lee.

6. If you could get a lifetime of either Victoria’s Secret or Savage x Fenty – who are you going with?

I’m loving Savage x Fenty. I think Victoria’s Secret is always nice but it definitely needs some new designs and vibes. Rihanna is really creating some amazing stuff and I love how it’s tailored to all people. You don’t have to be a supermodel to wear it.

7. Rihanna in 2021 – are you loving what she’s doing? What are your thoughts on her publicized relationship with A$AP Rocky and how bonded they are?

She’s sensational. What an empire she’s built! And I love that she’s found sound a connection with someone who has been a friend and a champion of hers for so long. That’s really the mark of someone who is good for you. When he loves and supports you in that way as a friend first. She has someone who isn’t just lusting for her. He celebrates her value.

8. If you could either have a yearlong hook-up of Pink’s Hot Dogs or Susie Cakes in Los Angeles – which spot are you going with?

Susie Cakes for sure. my sweet tooth is all about that celebration cake. But I would miss that Brando dog now and again for sure. Chili cheese makes my mouth wet.

9. If you could star opposite any Hollywood star in a new movie, who do you feel you would have the best chemistry with?

Jason Momoa and I would be fierce in Aquaman. I’ve also always had a fantasy of working with Ruby Rose. She’s so hot, we should make a lesbian crime drama superhero type film.

10. What’s your go-to workout playlist in 2021?

I love all kinds of music. Right now I have Dua Lipa, The Weeknd, Doja Cat, stuff like that, but I also like spinning to old 80s or 90s music. Doing themed playlists like that is fun. Anything with a great beat that gets you amped and motivated. I also like a lot of slow, more Indy stuff but that’s not to work out to. That’s later when I want to have a little wine and be in my feelings.

2Pac classic 'Juice' celebrates 30th anniversary w/ first-ever 4K Ultra HD rollout

If you’re really about the high-definition and insane quality life - plus you are a true culture hip-hop head, then there’s no better way to gear up for 2022 than with watching late music icon 2Pac’s classic Juice movie for the first time ever in 4K Ultra HD.

If you’re really about the high-definition and insane quality life - plus you are a true culture hip-hop head, then there’s no better way to gear up for 2022 than with watching late music icon 2Pac’s classic Juice movie for the first time ever in 4K Ultra HD.

2Pac’s ‘Juice’ Is 4K Ultra HD-ready

In celebration of its 30th anniversary, Paramount Home Entertainment is hitting the green light on delivering this cult classic to the masses in the highest quality form possible. In other words, January 11, 2022 can’t come soon enough.

A powerful morality tale steeped in 90s urban culture, JUICE marked the feature directorial debut of acclaimed cinematographer Ernest R. Dickerson and the first starring roles for Omar Epps and an electrifying Tupac Shakur.  30 years later, the gritty and influential film continues to be celebrated for its realistic portrayal of Harlem life, the early New York hip hop scene, and the fate of four friends in pursuit of the power and respect they call the Juice.

To mark the film’s 30th anniversary, Paramount Home Entertainment will release the film on 4K Ultra HD for the first time ever on January 11, 2022.  The disc features access to a Digital copy of the film and legacy bonus content, including interviews with Dickerson, producer David Heyman (Harry Potter franchise), Epps, and fellow actors Khalil Kain and Jermaine Hopkins.  The cast and crew look back on making the film, share heartfelt stories of working with Shakur, and reveal the influence that JUICE had on them both personally and professionally.

The in-depth featurettes are also loaded with footage of the cast on set and vintage interviews with Shakur, Queen Latifah, Cindy Herron of En Vogue, the Shocklee brothers, Eric B, EPMD, Cypress Hill and more.  Along with commentary by the director, fans can enjoy the original ending and hear Dickerson detail the reasons that it was changed prior to the film’s theatrical debut.

Jam-packed with classic features

Juice originally arrived on January 17, 1992 but even with its initial VHS and eventual DVD release, the amount of special features don’t come close to what’s packed into this 2022 4K Ultra HD drop.

  • Commentary by director Ernest R. Dickerson

  • You’ve Got the Juice Now—A look back at the making of the film featuring interviews with director Ernest R. Dickerson, producer David Heyman and actors Omar Epps, Khalil Kain and Jermaine Hopkins. The piece details Dickerson’s struggle to remain true to his original vision, his desire to cast fresh new talent, the challenges of shooting on location in Harlem, and the reasons why the film’s ending was changed.

  • The Wrecking Crew—The film’s surviving lead actors talk about how they came to be cast in the film and the bonds they immediately formed with one another. They additionally share stories about Tupac Shakur’s drive, authenticity and unmistakable genius, as well as their delight at getting to work with Samuel L. Jackson, Queen Latifah and Cindy Herron.

  • Sip the Juice: The Music—Explores the essential role that music plays in the film. Features vintage interviews with the Shocklee brothers about their score, as well as Erik B, EPMD, and members of Cypress Hill speaking about their contributions to the unforgettable soundtrack and why they chose to be a part of the film.

  • Stay in the Scene: The Interview—Vintage interview with the four lead cast members on set. The piece demonstrates their rapport as they discuss the importance of the film and its message.

  • Photo Gallery—Unit photographer Adger Cowans’ photos taken on set.

The Juice’y details

Whether you’ve heard about Juice from old heads or sorta, kinda not really took the time to watch this classic, the amount of memes created over the past decade are legendary. It’s all about four friends and … well, let’s just get the official synopsis detailed out for you.

Q, Raheem, Bishop, and Steel spend their days hanging out and looking for a way to get the power and respect they call Juice. Q hopes to earn respect by becoming a scratch 'n' mix DJ.  Bishop has a deadlier plan—take it through an armed robbery with his crew. Ernest R. Dickerson, the acclaimed cinematographer whose collaborations with Spike Lee include Do the Right Thing and Malcom X, made his directorial debut with this powerful drama steeped in ‘90s urban lifestyle.  JUICEfeatures the acting debut of Tupac Shakur and a hit soundtrack that includes Eric B. & Rakim, Naughty by Nature, Big Daddy Kane and Salt N’ Pepa.

The nostalgic trailer

If the breakdown didn’t do it for you, then just kick back and enjoy this super vintage throwback trailer.

JAY-Z's finally on Instagram + it's still all business

Music icon JAY-Z doesn’t use Twitter fingers often and his presence on Instagram has remained obsolete up until today. The hip-hop superstar comes through clutch for the IG heads by not only showing up but plugging his Roc Nation-backed The Harder They Fall production.

Music icon JAY-Z doesn’t use Twitter fingers often and his presence on Instagram has remained obsolete up until today. The hip-hop superstar comes through clutch for the IG heads by not only showing up but plugging his Roc Nation-backed The Harder They Fall production.

JAY-Z’s finally on Instagram

Young Hov hit up his IG page with the poster of The Harder They Fall in celebration of its official Netflix premiere. Rather than get caught up in funny captions or emojis, Young Hov simply captioned the post with the film’s title.

JAY-Z leads ‘The Harder They Fall’ soundtrack

Young Hov’s Roc Nation and Netflix partnered up for the film’s audio release. In addition to the Jigga Man, the album features music heavyweights including Kid Cudi, Jadakiss, Conway The Machine, Koffee, Seal, CeeLe Green, Lauryn Hill and film director Jeymes Samuel.

Each song on the soundtrack was produced by Samuel, who also co-wrote the screenplay for “The Harder They Fall” and directed the film starring Jonathan Majors, Zazie Beetz, Delroy Lindo, LaKeith Stanfield, Danielle Deadwyler, Edi Gathegi, R.J. Cyler, Damon Wayans Jr., Deon Cole with Regina King and Idris Elba. In addition to making his directorial debut, Samuel also showcases his versatility as an artist with his own song “No Turning Around” also appearing on the project.

Director Jeymes Samuel is big proud of the soundtrack

The film’s director has since dished on being a part of the jam-packed soundtrack and dished on what it means to have a deep mixture of talent all on one project.

“I’m honored to have collaborated with such a diverse and talented array of artists to bring this film’s soundtrack to life," said Samuel. "My vision was to create a versatile body of work that blends genres and eras in an innovative way. I hope that, through our collaborative work, fans will be able to really immerse themselves in the stories we’re trying to tell.”

JAY’s on more than just one fire song

While in most cases you would figure JAY is only going to be featured on one track, Shawn Carter actually has a couple of standout collaborations.

The soundtrack includes the long-awaited collaboration between JAY-Z and Kid Cudi on “Guns Go Bang,” which was first teased in the film’s main trailer in September and marks the duo’s first official collaboration since 2009. JAY-Z makes another appearance on the soundtrack alongside Jadakiss and Conway The Machine on “King Kong Riddim” for an explosive collaboration.

Additionally, the soundtrack includes a rare appearance from Hillwhose collaborative effort with Fatoumata Diawara on “Black Woman”offers a strong message of empowerment. Hill’s appearance on “The Harder They Fall” soundtrack is significant, considering it marks the Grammy-award winning icon’s fifth release as lead artist in the past 10 years.

The project also features some notable songs by veteran musician Barrington Levy and a skit with “Atlanta” star LaKeith Stanfield and Regina King.

1. Lightnin’ With The Blam Blams (Skit) - Edi Gathegi & R.J. Cyler

2. The Harder They Fall - Koffee

3. Guns Go Bang - Kid Cudi & JAY-Z

4. Better Than Gold - Barrington Levy

5. Black Woman - Fatoumata Diawara & Ms. Lauryn Hill
