Spotify's putting major spotlight on Ayra Starr's non-stop grind
Every platform does its part to show love to artists on the come-up and pushing the culture forward. So of course Spotify helps lead the way with its RADAR Global artist acknowledgment which highlights musicians glowing up and gives them extra attention on its own digital platform. Next up? How about Ayra Starr?

So of course Spotify helps lead the way with its RADAR Global artist acknowledgment which highlights musicians glowing up and gives them extra attention on its own digital platform. Next up? How about Ayra Starr?
Spotify’s putting big respect on Ayra Starr’s name
RADAR gives its highlighted artists an opportunity to broaden their fanbase and supports them in their path to superstardom with an extra emphasis on marketing, content and even editorial attention. Starr’s the latest star to get the spotlight following previous musicians including The Kid LAROI, Nathy Pelusu, Boza and Griff.
As the next big step for the burgeoning singer, Spotify’s support of Starr runs deep -- from being tapped as Spotify’s EQUAL Artist of the Month in November 2021 (the platform’s program that aims to foster gender equality in music and provide a platform to highlight influential female creators) to being listed as a featured artist in the COLORSxStudio campaign via Spotify Africa’s RADAR partnership, and most recently joining RADAR Africa in May 2022, Ayra now takes it to the next level as RADAR Global’s newest artist.
Through the program, Ayra Starr will be featured on the RADAR Global playlist as well as release special content on Spotify, including a mini-documentary and social content. The mini-doc, which takes place in Ayra’s hometown, Cotonou Benin, gives fans special insight into the rising star as she chronicles her beginnings and more - showing fans a personal look at her journey.
Got game? Spotify does with its All-RapCaviar line-ups
It’s no secret - basketball and hip-hop go hand in hand. So it’s no surprise Spotify’s All-RapCaviar rollout is packed with awesomeness in the form of a one-of-a-kind launch celebrating artists and their love for the sport.
It’s no secret - basketball and hip-hop go hand in hand. So it’s no surprise Spotify’s All-RapCaviar rollout is packed with awesomeness in the form of a one-of-a-kind launch celebrating artists and their love for the sport.
Spotify’s All-RapCaviar launch is legit
It’s all about the best of the best. Inspired by the All-NBA team - you know, the yearly roundup the league does celebrating the best players in the NBA - Spotify’s All-RapCaviar reunites the best rappers in the game, and every element of the campaign will combine the best of both worlds.
The campaign kicks off today with the reveal of the All-RapCaviar teams, then on June 21st fans will vote for the MVP and Rookie of the Year, a social content series ‘Inside RapCaviar’ and a culmination event in Los Angeles, celebrating all the artists in the lineup.
Ready to get more excited? Here’s the full rundown on how it’s going down.
Here’s how it works:
To kick off the campaign @RapCaviar social revealed its All-RapCaviar teams, chosen by Spotify editors, in three, five-man teams to get fans talking:
First Team: Future, Gunna, Kendrick, Lil Durk, Drake
Second Team: Kanye West, Doja Cat, Jack Harlow, Lil Baby, Megan Thee Stallion
Third Team: YoungBoy NBA, Kodak Black, Nicki Minaj, Latto, Pusha T
To keep the hype going, @RapCaviar (IG Reels/Twitter & @Spotify) will debut a mini-episode today, June 21st inspired by Inside the NBA, called ‘Inside RapCaviar’ where hip-hop personalities will go head to head to discuss the All-RapCaviar teams and category nominees.
@Rapcaviar Twitter will reveal the nominees for MVP and Rookie of the Year. We will invite fans to vote via a Twitter poll where users will have the opportunity to make their picks and debate with others online on selects.
The All-RapCaviar Coach of the Year will be revealed on June 22nd.
To keep on theme, the selections for the 2022 All-RapCaviar Teams were based on the acts’ streaming performances on RapCaviar and other Spotify Hip Hop-centered playlists during the duration of the NBA season from November 2021 to June 2022.
The voting will culminate with a live, exclusive event in Los Angeles on June 23, where Latto and MoneyBagg Yo will perform before VIPs, industry insiders, and top RapCaviar fans on Spotify. Winners of the two voting categories and artists of all three teams will be recognized for their contributions to hip-hop. So who will take home hip-hop bragging rights?
Even Lil Durk is big-time hyped about the launch
It’s more than just the fans being pumped. Chicago’s Lil Durk is excited about what this new All-RapCaviar rollout is shaped up to be.
“RapCaviar is the best of the best. It’s the place where fans go to listen to their favorite songs that represent our culture. I appreciate Spotify for naming me First Team All RapCaviar for the second year in a row. Recognition like this motivates me to keep going harder and get better.”
The Spotify numbers aren’t lying, either
While everyone is up on the streaming giant’s platforms, it’s really about the power RapCaviar has as a game-changer in the streaming world. Already nearly a decade in and the numbers aren’t lying.
Since launching in May 2015, Spotify’s RapCaviar has been the leading destination for hip-hop, conversations, and culture. Spotify’s RapCaviar has featured over 13,500 artists to-date and currently has over 14M+ followers.

Eminem's lyrics helped CHAII learn English - no cap
Who says hip-hop really isn’t for the kids? Turns out self-proclaimed rap god Eminem’s lyrics do more than just force people to have tongue-twisting recitals. Iranian hip-hop artist CHAII recently credited Slim Shady for helping her learn English and pave a pathway for her venture in the music biz.

CHAII credits Marshall Mathers’ bars for helping her learn English
The hip-hop artist pulled through on Spotify’s ‘Mic Check’ and spoke on various topics. Most notably? Crediting Em for helping her learn English.
“The first thing I saw on TV when I moved was The Real Slim Shady had just dropped, and I was like, Whoa, what is this? This is crazy. So that sparked something in me like, I want to write rhymes… It’s semi a joke that I learned English from Eminem, but really, it was just through writing my own rhymes and rapping along to the songs that I kind of got better at speaking English, and so in that sense, it's kind of burned to my brain.”

The Mt. Rushmore of 2010’s Rap is here
While you will have to travel to spots like Toronto, New York, Los Angeles and North Carolina to see the murals in-person, fortunately the power of the Internet allow us to showcase this awesomeness at the convenience of your go-to gadget.
Each mural was specially designed by Jeks One, Luke Pollard, Jacob Rochester and Anderson Bluu and was created in the likeness of each legend, hand-painted in locations dear to each artist’s heart. Upon visiting the murals, fans will be prompted to scan a Snapcode that will ask them what ‘their mood is today’ while shuffling through the artists’ collective discographies and landing on an album that represents their mood, which fans can listen to directly on Spotify.
Spotify dishes on the epic murals and meaning to the rap game
Spotify’s executive Carl Chery has already detailed the importance of this epic unveilings.
"When the initial Mt Rushmore of 2010s Rap viral moment happened, we knew it had become so big that it deserved a physical installation in the real world,” says Carl Chery, Spotify’s Creative Director & Head of Urban Music, adding “Nicki, Cole, Kendrick, and Drake came of age at the beginning of the 2010s, setting the tone for hip-hop in the streaming era, and now 12-years later they are each legends in their own right and pillars of the genre. These murals are a celebration of their contributions, and we hope their locations in each artists’ hometown is meaningful to them and their fans."
In case you’re super serious about going to see these in-person, the details are below including each mural’s creator.
